The Tsarnaev family moved to Dagestan from Kyrgyzstan in 2001, a spokesman at a school the children attended told Russia Today, the international 24/7 TV network similar to CNN.
"He arrived at our school in first grade and left in second," Irina Bandurina, the secretary at Makhachkala’s School No.1, told RT. “They arrived from Kyrgyzstan and departed to the US. I’m telling you they lived here for a year. Not the whole year. They arrived at the school in 2001 and departed in March 2002 … There were four of them – two sisters and two brothers… It’s written here that they are from Kyrgyzstan. They are Chechens.”
Russia Today also reports that Dzhokar was born in Kyrgystan. He has two sisters Bella and Amina. The family moved to Russia with a status of refugees.
The entire campus of UMass-Dartmouth, where at-large suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev was enrolled, has been closed.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed earlier today, attended Bunker Hill Community College, said Patricia Brady, a spokeswoman. Tamerlin was a part-time student for three semesters: Fall 2006, Spring 2007, Fall 2008.
